Building a nature-positive future
I’m Marnie Hawson - a former environmental scientist using photography, business tools, and industry pledges to help the built environment restore nature.
As a certified B Corp - currently the only photographer in Australia - my work sits at the intersection of design and ecology.
Together, my work is about changing the story and the system - showing what good looks like, and helping others make it the norm.
Photography
I only photograph design that matters - sustainable architecture, green infrastructure, and regenerative landscapes - projects that tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and deliver housing that’s good for people and planet.
If you’re designing the future of how we live with nature, I want to document it.
Business of Biodiversity
Most businesses want to do better for nature – they just don’t know where to start.
BoB is a practical framework that removes the overwhelm and replaces it with clarity, community, and real-world impact.
Start with a public commitment, choose practical steps that suit your business, and grow your impact at your own pace.
Delivered by Marnie Hawson and supported by the Odonata Foundation, the membership program is coming soon.
Wild Houses
We build thousands of houses for people every year. What if we built thousands for wildlife too?
A one-to-one pledge for the built environment industry, founded by Marnie Hawson.
You choose the unit - house, garden, project, development, apartment, renovation. Or whatever works for your business.
One project for people.
One house for wildlife.
Pledge now. Confirm at EOFY. Pay based on what your business actually delivers.
Using business as a force for good
What gets me out of bed every day is a drive to show that using business as a force for good is easy to do. You just need to know how. I share practical tips and bite size education content through my newsletter Three Neat Things, and run courses for business leaders to embed impact into your operations.
I’m a carbon neutral, Certified B Corp business and put my money where it matters. I can teach you how to do the same.
Pro bono
I donate my time to environmental organisations doing the hard work - from passive house advocacy to wildlife conservation. Because some fights are too important to sit on the sidelines, and these organisations deserve good pics to tell their stories.
If you are interested in chatting about my pro bono services, please shoot me an email here.
Mentoring
I help photographers and small business owners get their act together - workflows that actually work, systems that don't break, and businesses built with purpose. Limited sessions because I'd rather do fewer things well than spread myself thin.
Print shop
Limited edition prints, sustainably made in Melbourne.
Every purchase supports environmental non-profits - as a 1% For the Planet member, I donate a portion of my revenue each year. My Prints for Wildlife series goes even further - 100% of profits from these prints go directly to wildlife sanctuaries caring for our native animals. It's art that directly funds food, shelter maintenance, and care for Australian wildlife.
Seen in
My work has been widely published across leading architecture, design, and interiors media in Australia and internationally. I don’t just document your projects, I help them get seen - pitching to editors on behalf of my clients at no extra cost.
I’ve had more than 550 print articles published in leading architecture and design magazines, and my images have appeared in over 10 architecture and interior books over the last decade. I use those connections to put my clients’ work in front of the right audiences - because the more visibility sustainable architecture gets, the more it becomes the benchmark.
I am represented internationally by Living Inside in Milan.
