Business as
a force for good
What gets me out of bed every morning is a drive to show that using business as a force for good is easy to do. You just need to know how.
Small businesses employ around 97% of working Australians. Imagine what impact we could make if we all used our business as a force for good! With a bit of planning, strategy and knowledge, you can take one step at a time and start moving your impact dial:
Consider who your clients are and make a commitment to not take on ones who are detrimental to the environment (for instance, signing up to CommsDeclare).
Give away a percentage of your profit (through programs like 1% For the Planet) and do pro bono work for aligned non-profits or businesses.
Measure your carbon footprint. Read here for 10 steps on how to make a start.
Make a transition to clean energy. Read here about how to get off gas.
Consider who you are spending your money on - are you supporting ethical suppliers? How clean is your supply chain? Click here for the ultimate B Corp gift guide as a start.
Align your banking and superannuation with your values - find ones that support ethical investment and don’t fund evil corporations. Read this article on how to make an impact with money.
Become a Certified B Corp.
Support biodiversity projects - sign up to our next Business of Biodiversity program to learn how.
Need help getting started on your impact journey?
I’ve created a five week mini course to help you assess your impact and get you on your way.
Business of Biodiversity Program
This year I’m partnering with the Odonata Foundation to run a Business of Biodiversity Pilot Program - giving you three shovel-ready projects to pitch to your CEO (or incorporate into your own business), and the confidence and connections to make it a reality.
The pilot program is now closed for 2023, but please join the waitlist for our next intake by filling out the waitlist form.
