Hi friends!

I’ve just spent a few days in Victoria’s high country, a place I adore. The area around Bright offers a stark juxtaposition however: pristine nature alongside industrial logging. This tension between preservation and production mirrors a broader challenge in our society.

How can businesses thrive while safeguarding our natural world? Our Business of Biodiversity course tackles this question head-on, exploring innovative ways companies can integrate ecological principles into their operations.

For those in architecture and construction, I was excited to come across Product Aware - a free database of sustainable building materials. This tool empowers designers to create homes that harmonise with their surroundings, much like the symbiotic relationships found in nature.

Product Aware

A new free, open-source platform called Product Aware helps architects and designers compare building products' sustainability profiles. Users can filter products based on environmental criteria like embodied carbon and recycled content.

Suppliers voluntarily provide product information, making it easier for practices to access sustainability data without developing their own guidelines or relying on paid certifications.

Books, books, books

My photo of Melbourne Design Studios' Hütt 01 Passivhaus project is gracing the cover of "The New Sustainable House" by Penny Craswell.

This fantastic book showcases 25 houses from around the world, each offering creative solutions for eco-friendly home design. It's all about pushing the boundaries of sustainable architecture without compromising on comfort or aesthetics.
