This South Melbourne Market stall is a shoe store completely made from recycled shipping pallets.

Working to a brief that stipulated sustainability and cost-effectiveness without skimping on style, Melbourne Design Studios didn't look too far for inspiration. Says Melbourne Design Studios: "'Pallets are a material that is already an inherent part of the shoe supply chain and, rather than using new and highly-polished materials with embodied energy, [they follow] a cradle-to-cradle approach, extending their lifespan while helping to reduce overall cost." One might go so far as to say this is a shoe store with plenty of heart and sole (yeah, we went there).
